Deborah Ann "Deah" Newman
1957-12-25 2020-08-30On August 30, 2020, Deborah Ann “Deah” Newman, 62, of Olathe, Kansas, lost her battle with cancer but gained her wings and the ability to “walk with the ones that have departed before her.” Her Celebration of Life will be September 26, 2020, from 1 to 3 pm at the Tanglewood Estates Clubhouse, 6601 Halsey St, Shawnee, KS 66216.
Deah was born December 25, 1957, in Kansas City to James Robert and Mary Ann Newman (nee Turner). She resided in Shawnee, KS, during her childhood, attending Shawnee Mission Northwest, where she graduated with honors. Deah was a baton twirler in the marching band and prided herself in the ability to twirl fire batons (we had the burnt grass to prove it!) She was also one of the original Honor Queens in Jobs Daughters out of the Shawnee Masonic Lodge and wore that honor high. Most of her career was spent in Health Insurance, where she worked as a claims examiner and supervisor. Deah loved her family and spent a lot of time mothering both of her younger sisters. She was intelligent, outspoken, determined, hard-headed, independent, kind-hearted, kitty cat-loving, onry lady. Deah spoke straight from her heart and would give you the shirt off her back and more.
She is preceded in death by her Mother, Father, and husbands Thomas Campbell and David Harter. She is survived by her brothers; Patrick (Cindy) Newman, Mexico, MO, Kevin (Julie) Newman, Oskaloosa, KS, and sisters; Sarah Newman (John Hoglen), Shawnee, KS, and Beth Newman, Shawnee, KS, as well as 13 nieces and nephews and 21 great nieces and nephews.
