Emily R. Newkirk, 48, of Shawnee, passed away Friday, December 22, 2006 at Shawnee Mission Medical Center after a long illness. Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, December 27, 2006 at Pleasant View Cemetery in Shawnee. She was born, December 26, 1957 to George and Mary Newkirk in Kansas City, KS. She grew up and attended school in Shawnee, KS. She was preceded in death by her father, George Newkirk. She is survived by her mother, Mary Newkirk of Shawnee, brother David Newkirk of Paola, KS, nieces and nephews, Stephanie Newkirk of Lawrence, KS. Nicholas, Haley, and Logan Newkirk of Paola, KS. She is also survived by her long-time companion, Harold Taylor, who cared for her for several years. She is now in the hands of the Lord and her loving Father to care for her. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to Kansas City Hospice.
